Hypogonadism

Hypogonadism is a fairly common condition for those of us who are getting older, but it can happen at any age.

I was diagnosed last year by a wonderful endocrinologist who was not afraid to be "aggressive"! I am taking thyroid(witch actually helps raise the mood). I am also on a few testosterone precursers and also inject Testosterone on a weekly basis. Not only did it help stabilize my Bipolar moods, it got rid of my "GUT" without radical dieting, but I have been able to pack on some serious muscle (gotta love that test).

If your diagnosed with Hypogonadism, please find an endocrinologist who is not afraid to put your level in the high normal range (900 is nice).

Hope this helps.

" Thanks for sharing. I live in a rural area and I'm not getign much suooirt for and testosterone replacement advice from my MD. I have looked at reNEW man site and may go there. Your advice about an endrocrinologist may be even better. In my case I have sevre depression and anxiety attacks for 4 years now. "

" Hi Nevik. I have looked at the renew man site. I looked at the cost of treatment for what you'll most likely need and it is HIGH! If you can see a local endrocrinologist, you can get better service at far less than online hormone replacements. Your MAIN complaint, should you go to the endrocrinologist, should be loss of all libido. If you start with that they will be more willing to move you to high normal. It is very subjective, and you are the only judge of your own libido. "

" It can be expensive no matter where you look. I was getting 200mg of depotestosterone from my MD once a month for $95. reNEWman is $120 for a month but I'm getting 150mg twice a week. Better balance than the 200 at once. My t level also ever got to 570 so hoping that the reNEWman will bring me up to the 800-900 mark and balance out my mood. If this doesn't do it I will on the the endrocrinologist. "

" endocrinologist I saw in London was absolutely useless and blamed my zero functioning and all the tiredness, weakness and lack of life on my state of mind - refused to give me any treatment. Ive spent £3000 seeing the most direct councelling for this problem and its definately not in the mind - waste of money that was too "

" I've had hypogonadism i guess sense birth. I was a normal kid other than the fact I couldn't smell. Around the age of 11 when it was time for my body to change it didn't. I just became fat and depressed and it was an endless circle of eating and sadness. When I was in high school I finally decided to see why I couldn't smell they said I had a block in my brain that stopped my testosterone from being made (or something) Anyway I'm 22 now and I've taken growth hormone shots and testosterone gels and shots and anastozole pills and there has been almost no changes. So I'm just wondering should I just kill myself so I can just be done with this or wait it out another 30-40 years and die depressed and alone? "

" I can't imagine having to fight your own body since being a kid like you have, but really hope you can find some peace and meaning in life!

Regarding the hormones, the only thing I can think of is to get radical. I might see if I could learn anything from people undergoing a sex change, or consult with a sex change doc. "
