Hello I'm new to this group. I've been struggling with the following: How do you tell someone you need to eat often if it may be an awkward time to eat? I'm sure many of you like me try your best to eat often and at regular times whether you're home or at work. For me wherever I am, my body needs lunch between 12 and 12:30. Once the clock hands go past that I get the shakes and cant concentrate, anxious,etc...It's scary and horrible. Once I eat I'm fine.
I just got a part time job being a personal assistant and I'm already worried because she is a writer and I will have to help her at occasional events, book signings,etc...What if one of them is at noon?? It may not be "appropriate" to be in engrossed in a tupperware of chili or chicken sitting near her or welcoming people at the same time. I do want this job and dont want the HG to get in the way. Some may suggest to eat something small but I know my body and once noon rolls around, I gotta eat lunch..even a sandwich wont do it unless I eat a hearty soup with it. I hate nuts and cheese and peanut butter so that wont work. Pretty much I have a yogurt in between meals and I'm good to go. But I don't want to force feed myself lunch at 11:00 if I have to go to an event at noon. How can you tell someone you dont know and want to impress..."Listen I know it is not a good time to eat but I have to" Ugh..the whole thing is awkward for me. In the rest of my life I am very confident but when it comes to the HG, I get very uncomfortable in telling people I need to eat. Like being the only one eating in a business meeting. Scenarios like that. You can't expect people to rearrange things for you of course. But I need to eat when I need to. And then co workers or people are always like "You're always eating". I feel like I'm under a microscope and I hate that.I just feel uncomfortable having to always explain why and when I need to eat..UGH! Anyone else going through this??? I need advice..This is taking over my life in a way cause I will avoid certain situations just to avoid the headache of having to eat at times when no one else is. This is embarrassing just telling this to strangers. Thanks in advance! Posted on 10/23/09, 02:10 pm |
