" My dad developed type 2 diabetes13 years ago and my mom's sister has had diabetes for about 5 years now. Other than that I don't know of anyone else in my family that has either diabetes or hypoglycemia. I was diagnosed with reactive hypoglycemia 25 years ago and was told that within 10 years I would become diabetic. Thank God I have not. For the most part I take pretty good care of myself and watch what I eat. However, I grew up on a horrible diet. My mom didn't like cooking so we ate mostly junk food. Once I got older I started experimenting with cooking healthly foods. My dad was always the first one there to try my cooking. He likes healthy foods, but he was never too regular with his eating, that is why I think he became diabetic. "

" My father and my mother's father were both type 1 diabetics. My brother has type 2. He is very much overweight and I always thought that was the cause. "
