" I keep honey sticks in my desk at work for when I start feeling whoozy. They work quickly and last long enough for me to get some real food in my body.

http://www.glorybeefoods.com/gbf/S... - that's where I order them from. You can find them different places though; like tea shops and farmers markets. "

" I would say you are hypoglycemic if you get the shakes after not eating. Any blood sugar level below 70 indicates either glucose rebound problems or HG. When I get the shakes, I eat something sweet (small piece of candy) and then immediately eat a meal with protein to help balance me out. Hope this helps! "

" I have found that peanut butter helps me alot. I keep peanut butter crackers with me if I am out and if I am home I eat a peanut butter sandwich and drink a small glass of OJ.
You should also think about keeping a journal of episode to show to your doctor, this will help them determine if you need something to help with your sugar. "

" Its been a while since anyone's posted on this topic, but I just joined and thought I'd throw in my two cents. I always loose track of time and forget to eat, so I've started setting the alarm on my cell phone (which I always have with me). Any time I eat, I set the alarm for two hours later to remind me its time for another snack.

For grab-and-go sorts of snacks, I like the South Beach Diet high protein cereal bars (look for them with the granola bars in the grocery store). Of course, vegetables and nuts are probably healthier, but the SBD bars are super convenient if you need to throw something individually wrapped into your pocket or purse as you're running out the door. " I get shakey, too from HG. Right now, in fact, I woke up once again shakey inside and ears ringing. These are only two of the many symptoms I can get from low blood sugar. I get my symptoms more severe at night when I've eaten junk or whatever triggers my HG during the previous day. I think mine is a fasting type of HG. But anyway, as far back as I can remember, people have always commented me on my shakey hands and finally after all these years, I know what causes it - HG! Because when I was eating better, my shakes were gone.
I have to start my good diet again, I started eating badly these last few months. "

" oh yeah....forgot to add my experience with forgetfulness, too - what a surprise :o) In a 'Hypoglycemic moment', I signed on to my computer and forgot what I wanted to do on it. It took over 1/2 hour to remember. "

" Stay on top of this with your doctor. If you don't get a good answer go to another doctor!!! I have been looking into this disease online and found that the symptoms range from acute to severe and can turn out to be fatal as it was in my mother's case. As women, we are constantly giving and doing for others. We have to take care of ourselves so we can continue taking care of our families and loved ones. "

" Hi-carb stuff is too fast (and too much up and back down) for me, I've been eating beef jerky, is slower and lasts longer. Howdy I just joined too. "
