Advice:
Is an endocrinologist worth seeing

I have been having trouble stabilizing my bloodsugar and was thinking of seeing an endocrinologist. I haven't been tested for hypo, just the 10 hr fasting and my sugar wasn't high. I took away the offending food and the symptoms go away, but then eventually I go back to my old ways then fix my diet and so on and so on. This time I just can't get back on track and was thinking of scheduling an appointment. Do they really help? What do they do? Thanks to all that reply.

" We take my son to en Endo, and I am scheduled to be evaluated by one at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville in June. My daughter went to a Pediatric Endo to be evaluated, he did a blood test, put her on a strict diet for several weeks, had her stick herself 2x day for 3 wks, then announced she's not hypo or diabetic, but should eat better (she's grouchy and craves sugar and junk food which we do not give her). For my son, the Endo has been helpful in teaching him how severely certain people can be affected by even the smallest amounts of sugar (seizure disorder) and also he nags him about the relationship between smoking and blood sugar and brain chemicals. Son ignores him, but we keep taking him hoping it'll sink in. Most Endo's are much more attentive to dietary relationships to other ailments and diseases, and it's a good place to start if you feel you have blood sugar issues. "
