I never got an official diagnosis but its starting to get scary because what my doctor said to do isn't working and i still get symptoms between meals and I only got a one time test. should I find a new doctor? or just ask for a 5 hour glucose tolerance test? or just go straight to an endocrinologist? I don't really know what to do and it's scaring some of my family members that something might really be wrong with me that we don't know about. What should I do?

" What symptoms are you having? Also, what advice did your doctor give you?

While a person is waiting for a diagnosis or trying to figure out what to do, there are steps you can take that should help you in the meantime. "

" I have over a 5 hour gap between breakfast and lunch (7am-12:30pn) but we have a snack time and if I eat a snack at 10am I'm usually fine but if I don't I get nauseous, shakey that sort of thing (also when I first wake up and right before bed). Also about a month ago I had a really sugary breakfast so I got a spike and about an hour later I passed out from what my doctor said was a quick drop. My doctor only said to eat more protein or just eat more in general "

" You shouldn't eat any sugar at all, permanently. No caffeine either. Just protein, vegetables, nuts, and whole grain. Eat every 2 hours, keep nuts with you if there is a long time between breaks. Stay off fruit and starchy stuff for now as well. You can probably add a little fruit in later. "

" I go to a nut free school so I can't have nuts. also I can't get out of class to eat every 2 hours without an official diagnosis and a doctors note. "
