I am a 16 year old boy, and for as long as i can remember ive feared illness. At the age of 4, my mom told me, i was asking questions about disease and death. I am afraid of anything that may put me in harms way.
Recently my fears have escalated, any pain or cough or ache is immediately associated with some sort of disorder or disease. I know most of it is caused by anxiety, i have anxiety disorder as well, but for some reason i always end up looking something up and giving myself a diagnosis. I am a very healthy kid, i play two sports and am in great shape. My family and i have recently moved, not far from my other house but we are living with my grandma and it stresses me out. Any time i get out of the house my symptoms go away, and my fear and restlessness subsides. I was wondering if there is any way to relax myself and bring myself to a better wellbeing while i am here for another month and a half. And just incase your wondering here are the all of the diseases ive thought ive had in the past month: Stomach Ulcer Breast Cancer Colon Cancer Hypothyroidism Acid Reflux CoastalChodriasis Heart Disease Enlarged Heart MS Blood Clots Fibromyalgia Hernia As you can see I am a mess please respond and help. It would mean alot to me. Posted on 07/13/12, 06:47 pm |

I'm so sorry you are going through such a hard time. Stress and anxiety can certainly trick our minds into thinking some bizarre things! I guess my suggestion to you would be, when you're home and stressing, go to your room and do something that will distract your mind...listen to some relaxing music, watch something that makes you laugh, or if you have a hobby (like drawing or writing), then try that too. A lot of it is about refocusing your mind to other things instead of obsessively thinking about what you're feeling or what's going on in your body. Easier said then done, I know!
Hope that was a little helpful! And remember you're not alone in what you're going through...I've thought that I've had many of the same things you mentioned.

i think youve figured out your trigger. maybe try writing about why youre so stressed out there. also deep abdominal breathing exercises and guided meditation really help me. i too have been worried about my health since i was little and thouggt i had everything. the medical world fasinated me but too much knowledge can be a bad thing too sometimes so stay away from google and just come here instead
