I've been taking tapazole for almost a year and now I got severe rash/itch. Does anyone experiencing this also? I already stop taking tapazole for almost a week but still I have lots of rashes. I was wondering how long it will last in our system? I am tired os scratching. It make me sick... =(

" Hi:
How high of a dosage are you taking and how often?

Tapazole is meant to be taken in three divided doses and after six to eight weeks of being on it, the excess store of Iodine is used up. By then the Free T4 has fallen to mid ranges and one begins to lower the Tapazole down. All this while labbing every six weeks, on the average, at least. Bye the year mark one may be on 5 mg or less of Tapazole per day to stay in Euthyroid levels.

Maybe you're on too high of a doses? Could you post your labs with the ranges and how much Tapazole you were taking at each labs? The right thyroid labs to get would be the Free T3, Free T4, and TSH.

" I came down with a rash after taking tapazole for about a month and a half. It looked like clusters of mosquito bites; very itchy. The largest clusters were on my feet and elbows, but I did have a few on the rest of body. I stopped the treatment and it the rash subsided after about a week. "

" rire1979:

You may have been on too high of a dosage to begin with. It happened o me after three weeks so the Methimazole was reduced slightly. The problem went away.
