I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism about 4yrs and don't have vitilligo but I do have a huge fear of getting this. But a friend of mine has had hyperthyroidism for about 30yrs and she has vitilligo. Has anyone else gotten this from hyperthyroidism?
Thanks. Posted on 09/25/09, 10:09 pm |

I don't have Vitilligo. However, I have several other autoimmune diseases which are common for people to get.

Hi Steph,
I was afraid of getting vitiligo for awhile too, but I talked to a dermatologist and she said it's really rare, even in GD patients. Do you have any signs of discoloration? If so, that could just be because of other things. The only dermatology problem I have heard of that is really associated with Graves is pretibial myxedema. Hope that helps!
