Hi, I'm an extreme newbie to all this. I'm still having ultra sounds and tests done but have been confirmed hyperthyroidism.
what can I expect? what is a 'normal' thyroid function test compared with one showing elevated levels..... i have a million questions! Posted on 09/11/09, 06:09 pm |

If you can post your thyroid tests results and the ranges, we can help you better. Then it'll be easier to explain the highs and lows of the tests so you can understand. I will also give you some links to go to read about understanding the tests.

Here are the ranges at my lab:
Free t-4 (0.80-1.80) Free t-3 (2.3-4.2) tsh-(0.35-5.0) these for the tsh have changed and the range really should only go to 3 not 5. Some labs vary with the ranges somewhat. In Canada and the UK they are totally different too.

My ranges for the Free T4 is: 0.60-1.76, Free T3 is: 230-420 and TSH is: 0.35-4.50.
Everybody's ranges going to be different depending on where they live.
