choking due to goiter?

Hi, I was just recently diagnosed with severe Graves disease after a thyroid storm. Prior to that, I had a choking incident 2 weeks before where I choked on steak. Then the day before my storm, I choked again. Upon a visit to the ER, I had an ultrasound due to a lump in my neck and it showed a goiter with nodules. I am wondering if this could be why I was choking? and how do I reduce the size? I have been on a liquid only diet since the first incident that I choked and I would like to start on solids again but am nervous. Any advice is appreciated.

Hi there:
I responded to your Q over at the Graves' board. Not many people are here at this board. {{{hugs}}}

I am really not sure how you would reduce the size of the nodule. There are books on this at the library, bookstore and internet. You could also consult with your doctor. I hope you will find your answer. Although this has never happened to me I think it would be scarry and I would wonder the same thing. I recently found I have a nodule on my thyroid too and was imagining this nodule getting in the way of my swallowing but then found the nodule was on the side of my neck so it helped me a lot but I still wonder how you can reduce the size of the nodule and I am looking for that info too. It is a complicated process to find the answer. If you find out please let me know. Thank you.
