Hello Cindy:
Did yourEndo run the labs called the Free T3, Free T4, and the TSH? Did you also get the the antibodies tests done of the TSI, TRAb, and TPOab to see if you had Graves' Disease? Can you post what labs you had done together with the ranges so we can better help you? It takes a good several weeks to use up the extra stores of Iodine and you will begin feeling better. Be sure to split up the doses of Methimazole (MMI) three times a day. It is online to dose several times a day as not to yo yo with the thyroid symptoms of hypO/hypER through out the day. Lab every six weeks is a must to work on getting the Free Ts at mid ranges. Take care... :-)

Hi, I also have hyper, and I found acupuncture helped restore my energy. I'm not on medication yet (long story), but I have an 11 month old and have been hyper for 8 months or so.
After I had acupuncture I felt like I could do things around the house again, and felt a big difference. I'm not sure if it works for everyone, but if your medical insurance covers it, I would definitely give it a try. I also have a magnesium deficiency, which is apparently sometimes common for hypers, so I take magnesium supplements at night and they help me sleep. Not sure if that helps, but I thought I'd throw that out there. Hope that helps.

You can also come and post the Graves' Disease board. We have more people posting there and you'll likely get more input from there than here.
{{{hugs}}} :-)

Hi! if you go this long without labs you can go hypo. If it's thought that you were hypo in May you might be swinging back and forth. This is usually Hashimoto's disease and not Graves. If you get copies of your labs and post them (from may too) we could help you more like Mm said. The antibodies tests will show what you have, also an ultrasound. You should be labbed again after a month on Methimazole. If you wait you'll end up hypo. What dose are you on? You have to be monitored closely at first to see if levels come down.

THS 0.5
Free T4 1.88 I got those results on 8/26/09. I don't know what my lab results were in may I did call about the hypo mix up & the nurse said the dr assistant just said the wrong name, that my results said hyper. My endo was in quite a hurry @ my appt. I waited 2 hours to be seen for 10 min. My next appt isn't until 12/09. How can I get tested before then? I would like to get tested now imscare to be hypo!!! Thanks for all your posts! I don't feel much different after taking methimazole for a month I'm still tired all the time, I justcant sleep when I lay down! I did ask the endo about joint & muscle pain & if hypercontributed to that & she said no! I must have some kind of arthritis cuz my back always goes out n I can't stand for more then an hour, Aldo my joints snap!!!

Hi:
Insist on getting labs every six weeks to keep the Free Ts at mid ranges all the while adjusting the MMI (Methimazole). Otherwise you can dip hypO which is not fun to be in just like it's not fun to be hypER. {{{hugs}}} :-)

P.S. I see my doctor every four months, get labs every two months. I only see my Endo once per year and he gets hard copies of all my labs from my doctor.
{{{hugs}}} again.
