" Hi and welcome...! :-)

Yes, these are typical symptoms of Graves' Disease. While you are waiting to see a specialist - an Endo, did you get put on any meds such as ATDs (antithyroid drugs) and a beta blocker, in the meantime, to help lower down your symptoms?

Take care... :-) "

" I am not on any medications as of yet. I don't imagine I will get any till I see the Endo. I generally feel the tingling all the time which is very fusterating. My Doc also wants to get an MRI, for MS, though she didn't seem to see any other symptoms for it. "

" If your heart rate is over 90 bpm, insist to the doctor about getting put on a beta blocker. Beta blockers help with cardiac/hypER symptoms from the overactive thyroid. You did not say when you see the Endo, but in some places there are shortages of them and it can take five or six months to see one.

Okay, yes, sometimes with untreated hypERthyroidism there can be the tingling all over. There's another condition that affects the tinglings and it is called Neuroapthy. Maybe ask your doctor to run some tests on this as well as the MS?

If you post your thyroid lab results and the ranges (leave out the parantheses and other symbols) we can better help you decipher what is going with you.

Take care... :-) "

" Hi,

I haven't yet found out what my levels are, and they are still waiting for one of them to come back. I ended up in the ER last week with my HR beween 140-150bpm...they gave me fluids and started me on beta blockers, 50mg. Then on Sunday I was back cause my heart went back up to 130, so they increased my dosage to 1 tab in the morning and 1 in the evening, however I still find its high, 108-115. I had an ECG done today. I am just wondering how long you can go with a high HR, will it do any damage to my heart? The ER doc also felt it was Graves. I am still waiting to see and Endo. "

" When I was hospitalized with high heart rate (suspected thyroid storm) I had an Endo visit me and got prescribed ATD (antithyroid drug) as well as a beta blocker. How come they didn't give you any ATD when you were there? Please get some to lower down your thyroid levels together with the beta blocker

Ask your regular doctor to prescribe an ATD before you get in to see an Endo. It may take awhil to see an Endo (several months). It's not safe to go a long time very hypER and cause problems to the heart.

" I got into see the Endo today, there are going to do a scan or something on the thyroid...they seem to think its graves. They put me on 30mg of Methimazole a day along with the beta blocker and I go back to find out my options for longterm treatment in September. I will be getting monthly labs done as well. "

" Ask your doctors to run the thyroid antibodies tests such as the TSI (Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulins), TRAb (Thyroid Receptors antibodies) an TPOab (Thyroid Peroxidase antibodies) to find out if you have Graves' Disease. The only reason why they do the Radioactive scan is to see how much Iodine to give to you to kill your thyroid when the time comes.

I refused to have the RAI scan and would do other methods such as FNA (Fine Needle Aspiration) and Ultrasound to check if I had nodules.

Take care... :-) "

" They didn't seem to think anything was there... I guess I'm not sure what options to do. I have read with the idione, that you can't conceive for 8-12 mths, I really don't like that idea, but if it is graves isn't that all they can do? I think they are waiting for the rest of my blood work to come back to confirm the graves. Does anyone else have any ideas as far as treaments go? It would be nice to know my options. Thanks "

" Hi:

Yes, you can have the ultra sound done together with the Fine Needle Aspiration if nodules are suspected.

Take care... :-) "
