Hi, just recently diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and the doctors are a bit baffled by the fact that I'm tired so much. It was mentioned that the anxiety caused my body to not get sleep.

And 2nd I'm cold some times. My hands and arms and I have hyper not hypo!

" Hello! :-)

Do you have latest labs to share here so we can offer ideas/suggestions? Did you get the Free T3 and the Free T4 done especially? What ATDs (antithyroid drugs) are you on now? With having a thyroid disease, you can expect to have symptoms cross over to each other of either hypOthyroid or hypERthyroid. It's not fun and sometimes it is hard to tell which thyroid problem one has.

Take care... :-) "

" Thank you, I don't know which tests you had done and what was a 20 and a 30? There are several different thyroid tests. Look at the papers, put down the names and the lab ranges from the right side to go with these tests here at the board.

Then let us know if you are on any ATDs (antithyroid drugs) or whatever and how much do you take per day and how often. Do you take any beta blockers to help with the anxiety? Do you have high heart rate issues? Beta blockers will help bring down the heart rate.

Thank you for any additional help you can provide us so we can better help you.

Take care... :-) "

" Wow, I feel the same way, yet my blood tests show that I have Graves, hyperthyroid...

Sucks how I feel tired all the time and have gotten to a point where I can't stand cold weather since I'm so used to my body temperature being warmer than normal.

Take care. "

" I have Graves and was fatigued when I was first diagnosed and pretty hyper. I was NOT sleeping. I couldn't get more than an hour at a time, and most of the night I lay frustrated making it harder to fall asleep, so I was tired all of the time. Now, I seem to be in normal ranges and am even more tired. I sleep great now, with the help of sleeping pills, lol. But I can get 8 hours of sleep and I still am wiped out in the morning. I don't get it. I thought I'd feel so much better. But I am still fatigued. So, I have no answers for you except that a lot of us go through this. *Hugs* "

" so, I've realized I'm not alone. I've had insomnia for sometime before diagnosed with Graves.... and now it seems my insomnia is 10x worse... thought it was all in my head with my anxiety issue. I usually am wide awake around 10 pm and wont fall asleep til about 5 am but then I'm up again at 8 am. I get hardly any sleep. "

" Yes sleep patterns are messed up if you are too hypo or hyper. We feel tired cause we don't get enough sleep usually. It's a good idea to get some prescrip meds if you can't sleep for an extended period. It can do more harm if you can't sleep. If not there's always the natural route like using lemom balm or valerian. There's other herbs too. "
