Good day,
18 months ago, when in addition to the founding that I carry the breast cancer causing gene, (BRCA2- which led to immediate Oophorectomy and thus an enforced menopause, I am now 53 years old)) I was diagnosed with Primary Hyperparathyroidism and also vitamin D deficiency thus taking 800 units of the latter a day . My data on November 2008 have been ok; Ca-11.2, Albumin-4.7, Creatinine-0.80, Phosphorus-3.5, BUT Alkaline Phosphatase-144 ( ALT-27, AST-26, Total Protein 8.2, A/G Ratio 1.3, Globulin, 3.5 and all the rest Normal) On May 2009, I repeated all blood work and was alarmed to see ( down below are all the results) that my Alkaline Phosphatase-increased to 180 ( results are way down below ) ( Ca did not alarm me too much when Albumin corrected) More comprehensive tests were carried as to the origin of AP and are here: ALKP-Alkaline Phosphatase 168.00 u/l 30,00 - 120, .(..........)* AlkP. Liver % 46.2 % 25,0 - 70,0 .(....*.....). AlkP. Liver AlkP. Bone % 51.6 % 20,0 - 60,0 .(.......*..). AlkP. Bone AlkP. Liver (Fast) % 2.2 % 0,0 - 10,0 .(.*........). AlkP. Liver (Fast) AlkP. Immunoglobulin G 1710.00 mg/dl 700,00 - 1600 .(..........)* Immunoglobulin A 156.00 mg/dl 70,00 - 400, .(..*.......). Bone density results were worsening from 2008:L2-L4 0.976 , T-score -1.9 to 0.936 and -2.2 accordingly in 2009 and bone density of leg-neck 2008: 0.853 with T Score -1.1 to 0.743 and -2.0 accordingly in 2009. CTX-0.624 and PINP-69.22 I am some what worried because I can`t have HRT due to my BRCA2 gene, and thus here are my concerns: 1.MIBI did not found which gland of the 4 is malfunctioning should I repeat the MIBI in another Medical center? 2.Should I consider an operation or a follow up of Ca levels every 6 months? 3.Why am I border line regarding Ca and my AP rose so much? 4.Am I in any kind of danger? 5.Should I receive any treatment /medication to prevent more Ca loss and the transformation from Oestopenia to osteoporosis? Should my numbers worry me? 6.Will my bones continue to loose Ca? ( probably no one knows, but could it be that my body is in shock now due to the oophorectomy and will stabilize and thus the loss of Ca will lessen?) Is there a way some one could see from the data presented here what is going on and write me so I will be more at peace ?
