How long did you test before your diagnosis?

I went to Mayo Clinic in Sept, and much to my surprise, I was told that they suspect that I am hyperparathyroid. My calcium was 10.5 with an elevated PTH. I had adrenal Cushing's disease and had an adrenalectomy last year. I just got another blood draw today. They could not find my adenomas on the Sestamibi scan at Mayo. I also have had four elevated IGF-1 tests suggestive of Acromegaly and Hashimotos. All in all, my endocrine system is a mess.
My blood pressure seems to be headed up again... Sheila Posted on 11/26/08, 12:11 am |

I saw my regular doctor in June who ran routine blood work. When my calcium bloodwork came back high she sent me for "specific" testing. Once she confirmed diagnosis she referred me to an endocrinologist who then put me through his own tests. I had the sestimibi scan to locate the bad parathyroid...which led to surgery in August.

It took me nearly a year of testing and nonsense before I was diagnosed. All the while, I was trying to convince the doctors this was what I have.
