i get these feelings none stop that i have a "ghost hair" on the backs of my arms or my face. just a hair that i cant find to pull off. it drives me crazy. on top of it, i get these feeling like a spider is walking on my feet or legs, arms, etc. i am beyond terrified of spiders, so i will panic and start smacking at the part of my skin only to find nothing there. or leap out of bed and start shaking out the blankets and nothing is there. does anyone else get this?

" yes, the fear of spiders is a phobia. but the sensation is there. even after ive looked and seen that there is no spider, or look in the mirror and see that there is no hair on my face, i can still feel it. "

" I get that feeling too, I think it's a skin hypersensitivity,or maybe nerve sensitivity or something? I don't know, but I often get that feeling like something is crawling on me.... you're not the only one! lol "

" hummm, could be. but I still think it is part of the phobia. but the good thing is, if you are willing, phobias are curable. Maybe go down that line to start with to rule it out? x "

" I have no fear of spiders, but that creepy feeling of something crawling on me will send me for a shower to try and get rid of it. There are times, that even that does not help.

And forget crumbs in the bed. MY husband and my son do not understand that they cannot eat in my bed. UGH. I have made my husband get up and help me to change the sheets. Obseesive? Maybe. But even that pressure can drive me crazy. And I never used to have it..

Hugs "

" I take back my comment about it being a phobia and here is why...

I went to day 1 of a pain management course for HMS yesterday and we had a speaker talk to us about how pain/sensation works. Basically every single thing we feel, be it air, clothes or standing on a pin cause a sensation. Because of HMS our nervous systems are heightened/different/more sensitive. Even though there is no damage to my hip when I am walking I still feel pain. In the same vain, air may go over you skin and cause a more heightened sensation than that of someone without HMS eg, the ants/spiders feeling. Some people on the course said they experience this often.

this guy made sense and I hope I have done him justice. As we know, as yet, there is no cure but it make help to understand?

" Does anyone remember the childhood story of the Princess and the Pea? I can't get comfortable if I can feel any crumb of anything or if the sheets have a wrinkle. I get the ghost hairs too, very distracting no matter what I am doing. "

" I get that too sometimes, I think its from having very sensitive nerves from the hypermobility. "
