" for pain I use strong co codamol 30 /500mg
ibuprofen gel on the affeted joints, massage is also good
I often support my legs in be with a cushion
I have insoles in my shoes for walking and wear sensible shoes
swelling can be reduced with massage and sometimes a cold compress
I also wear a variety of supports when neede ( ankle, knee, wrist)
rest when possible
try to avoid sitting or standing in the same position for too long, keep moving!
watch your posture!
hope that helps!

" my consultant at the hospital has told me recently that research has shown that using joint supports when you have HMS actually makes it worse. I didn't believe him but thought I'd give it a try and guess what, he was right. By not using supports you are forcing the muscles around the joints to strengthen and therefore be able to cope with things like walking when their bad. I also use Ibuprofen gel on my back as that is where I am most effected. Physiotherapy is also a good idea as they can teach you special exercises to strengthen the important muscles around the joints and therefore they will become less painful. I hope this helps as I was amazed at how much it helped me. "

" When the pain i so bad and i want to throw up the dr wants me to take Codiene and i have sensitivity problems with any kind of medications so what i have tried is Marajuana just enough to relax the pain and then i can move around, some mornings i am so stiff i can hardly walk but if i had this as a prescription then i would have no problems i could move around with little or no pain but with codiene it is hard on my stomach and makes me sleep lots which is some thing i don't really want but i have to accept when it is bad. And people expect i can work yeah right i have a hard time standing or walking for long periods of time and my hands and arms hurt lots i do get relief if i crack and pop my joints. My knees feet ankles and hips are the most affected so far "

" I use extra-strength tylonal (Ibuprofen bothers my tummy.) Before I was diagnosed, I tried, Cymbalta and Lyrica, but they didn't help. I also use hot packs. I found that ankle braces do help if I am doing periods of walking in the warehouse at work.

And massages are awesome, but expensive. "

" I took tramadol for several months but quickly became physically dependent on it even on a very low dose (so beware.) Now they have given me something called Mobic, which doesn't seem to work at all.

Now I take Ibuprofen when I need it and I also have something called a TENS Machine (Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation.) Which is a machine that uses little electrodes attached to your skin to send tiny electric waves to your muscles. This is very relaxing but really only helps while you are using it and for a little while after.

I have also found physiotherapy and prayer helpful. "
