Advice:
will i ever recover my knees

hi,
i've 'just been diagnosed' after 1.5years of physio's not knowing why i was rapidly being less mobile and the pain in my knees was so bad. now at 29 i can hardly walk at all. not handling this nugget life has thrown at me that well as i've a bunch of other crap too, but i do realise it could be worse, i do realise that.

My 7th physio suggests that i need surgery and at the moment am just getting acupuncture once a week which is not solving anything. my other 6 physio's said no surgery would help.

i am like a sad rag doll at the moment getting worse and not knowing where to turn. every flight of stairs feels like its bringin me closer to a wheelchair.

i dont mean to sound negative but i just don;t know what the future is or whats making me worse or what can make me better. i can't handle this being my life- not being able to take a flight of stairs being in pain all the time, taking pain killers to sleep.

i just hope someone has a good story to tell somewhere. and i promise when my good story comes I'll let you know.

thanks

has anyone ever got better?! can we at least stabilise?

" My knees improved and then held up, but they were never that bad. I don't know what precisely is wrong with your knees or what kind of physical therapy you've had. If your hips also are bad, improving them probably take some strain off the knees. "

" i totally know what you mean. i was feeling the same way a couple years ago. my knees and back hurt so bad that just looking at the stairs would make me want to cry. the only thing that has helped me at all was weeding out the chemicals in my home and getting on a really good multi-vitamin and joint vitamin. if i forget to take my joint vitamins for a day i can totally feel it. i would rather be taking the vitamins though than to keep getting the different scripts from the doc that dont work. " Thank you obth for replying- sorry i was having a bit of a self pitying evening when I posted this :) they will get better- they have to :) would be interested to hear what multivitamins you take and I will def try them.

I have told the physio about my hips but he just wants to focus on one thing at a time.

Anyway thanks for your advice and will try be less moany next post :) "

" Beware of physios that only want to focus on one thing at a time. Hypermobility requires a holistic, total-body view! If your hips *and* your knees are bothering you there is a reason...it's all connected! "
