Living With Hyperhidrosis

I can't think of anything that has had more of an impact on me in life than this disease called hyperhidrosis. I don't know how else to look at it. Through all of the trauma I may have been through the last few years, it really impacts me the most, my self esteem, self worth. It's paralyzing me from life. I'm afraid to do anything, go anywhere, be around people. It has been the hardest thing to live with. I absolutely hate it. I wish there was help for out there both medically and financially. It is very hard to cope with. How are we suppose to work, socialize and have relationships? Or any kind of normal life? I feel very abnormal and alone.

" Wow! Very well said. I feel the same exact way. It is unbelievable what trauma hh has brought me. It is very upsetting. I guess we have to just keep at it and try to see what works. Thanks for the reply on the botox. My husband also agrees it is poison and doesnt think it is the best solution. But I am Still thinking if I will go forward with it. "

" The botox worked for about a day or two, my hand was numb for days. For me it really was not a viable/workable solution.

I sympathize with your pain, in my youth I couldn't take notes in school because the paper would be soaked, as a tennis player my hands were always slipping off the grip, in the business world you shake hands regularly, just the thought of meeting or greeting someone made my hands sweat.

I used to think it was a sign of weakness but I know now that it is not. Stay strong, stay positive, and you'll deal with this in your own way. "

" I hope you don't mind me posting in here. I am an associate producer for MTV's documentary series, True Life. We are currently working on a documentary featuring young people who are suffering from hyperhidrosis. We realize that there is a large number of young people suffering and who may feel embarrassed by the visual aspect of the condition. If you or anyone else is interested in applying, please email us at embarrassed@mtvn.com for more information on the project. "

" Hi I am 13 and I think that I also suffer from hyperhydrosis. This has affected my life in so many ways including: writting I cant hold the pencil that well and then my paper is wet, holding hands and even raising my arm in class. I think that I have had it since i was 10. I sweat mainly on my hands but also on my feet and armpits. I have ran out of options, I think that I need to tell my parents but I am really nervous. "

" Hello everyone! i hear your pain! i'm 29 and have been living with hyperhidrosis ALL my life and it is a nightmare! i finally decided to do something about it at 23 and had ETS surgery. It cured my hand sweating but 6 yrs later, i find myself in an even worse state.... i sweat everywhere now except my hands and face. i regret having the surgery and am going back to trying home remedies to see if i can find a miracle. i'll keep you updated on my research but for those of you even considering surgery, please ask to hear my story! it'll def make you think twice... sometimes i think i was better off before.... ugggh, so frustrating!
