My boyfriend found out last night that she was diagnosed with Huntington's Disease. He looked on YouTube what happens through it and he's really scared. It would explain his mood swings, but I have them more than he does, cause of the environment that we live in. I got depressed, had nightmares, stuff like that. Now he hasn't tested for it yet.. I told him he should. He said he would eventually after he gets his license so they don't deny him anything. But if he does have it at least he knows it's coming.

We had fights before I came back here to relax and to work out some of my problems. He says it explains his craziness and him acting weird... But I mean... I was depressed, angry, and I have mood swings. He doesn't have uncontrollable movements at all. He says he's crazy alone, like doing crazy things, but don't we all. I sing in the shower, sing when I'm alone, talk to myself, sometimes answer back... Could it be just that it's like a placebo-effect of sorts he's putting on himself? I dunno what to do for him. I try to vocalize my support, but I dunno what to say at times cause... He knows that if he has it... He's gunna pass away.

" Thanks for being on this website. Self-caring activities are so important. My husband has something, but I don't know what it is. Once he starts talking about a topic, he can't seem to let it go. It is very difficult to have a real two way conversation. He also will often want to make some large purchase and cannot seem to reason logically with me if I disagree with the purchase, saying that we have plenty of money and that I "always" say we don't have enough money. Sometimes I wonder if he's just messing with my head or if he really cannot reason. His feet and hands and body continually twitch and move spasmodically when he is awake. He refuses to get tested for Huntington's, which is in his family, but I have gotten a lot of encouragment and understanding in this forum, in dealing with his "reasoning". Sometimes, I just have to leave the room for a while or listen to some music when my mind gets boggled with the whole thing.

There are many reasons to and not to get tested for HD. I'd suggest looking up more information. I'm a member of another HD discussion group on Yahoo and also find it helpful. There are also an empathy processes that you may find helpful to help you stay present and energized.

" Eh small edit... His mother was diagnosed. We dunno if he has it or not. Lulz. I didn't sleep well last night either cause I was being tested for something too. Came up positive for MRSA. But I can handle it, it's just can he. He's really depressed cause he doesn't know his true will. He hasn't had any twitches or anything. Yet if he has it. "
