My boyfriend was homeschooled for a very long time. He now goes to public school, but has trouble interacting with other kids. I am not blaming this on the homeschooling, but i just wanted to know if it could be something caused by it. He has alot of social issues, and i was just currious.

It's really impossible to generalize. Homeschooling is very individual. sometimes people do it because there are social issues, other times to avoid the social issues in schools. And there are lots of reasons which have nothing to do with the almighty socialization. There are lots of children in schools who have social issues who have never been homeschooled. I think it make more sense to look at the specific issues and a solution than to try to may blame on HSing.

I know in my case, I find it extremely hard to relate to my peers, and I couldn't tell you for sure if it has to do directly with HSing... I guess because of HSing I learned how to interact with all sorts of people of all ages, and I was able to cultivate alot of interests and hobbies that make me different from most "normal" young adults. He may be having issues relating to his peers, or it may be something else. Have you asked him about it?

When I was homeschooling my daughter I know she was more positively socialized than those of a traditional school setting. Her socialization was more interactive and productive towards her education. It wasn't based on who she sat next to in class or what the person she was involved in was wearing. It was 2 or more students coming together for a purpose and working together in a positivie manner to accomplish their goal. There are many great homeschooling programs that bring groups of homeschooled children together, as well as individualized extra curricular activities (dance, karate, baseball).
His social issues are not necessarily based on his homeschooling background. Because as another person posted many students in traditional school setting have a plethura of social issues as well.
