This is a post that I put on my blog today.
This day surprised me more than I can say. Let me begin at the start, Thursday Tim came by where I have my temp job and gave me some things for my project. We talked for about an hour, he is good people. But today was the kicker, I had agreed to meet Jennifer to get some things from her. She was to also meet me at where I am working. But, today my employer wanted a rest, so no work. But I came by just see if anyone would show up and to my surprise someone did. But the big surprise, was that someone showed up that would not give me their name and did not want me to say anything that might bring publicity. So I will keep my word. This person wanted to go with me to some of the homeless camps to help with my project. This person did not believe that homeless people camp out in downtown and other places because they had never seen a camp. I agreed with the condition that I would go in first as most of the people that camp out know me and know that I am not a cop or a member of any agency. We went to one camp that is right downtown and found the three campers I knew to be there and to my surprise the person that came along went into their vehicle and started bringing out sleeping bags and tents. I had been given some blankets by Jennifer and her husband that I also started distributing. These were not used sleeping bags or tents. They were brand new and still in the original packing. We left the first camp and went to two others. All total we gave out about 15 sleeping bags, 15 sleeping bags and 6 blankets. I never expected this turn out and was pleasantly surprised by the generosity of this anonymous person. There are some very good people out there and now I feel great that the people that I am trying to help are genuinely grateful for the things that they are receiving and that the people that are giving are understanding what it is I am trying to accomplish. Now to Tim and Jennifer, Thank You so much for your donations. They are being put to good use. Jennifer, thanks for the money also. It went straight to my gas tank. Now I will be able to get to some more places to dole out things that I have received. Posted on 11/01/08, 03:11 pm |
