No Walden Pond insights today. Just a short update.
Yesterday two of my supporters met by accident. I have a standing Saturday meeting with one and to my shock and surprise one other just appeared. They got to meet each other and it was a good meeting. We chatted for about a half hour. I think they are now friends. Both have emailed me and told me that they were glad to have met each other. The reason they come down, is to check on me since I restarted my meds. They worry about the side effects. I am not used to that. I have a hard time accepting that people that are genuinely interested in my welfare. The psych meds make one very drowsy until the system acclimates to them. It seems to take forever, but I know it is my body just trying to fight to retain what it was used to. It does not like change. But I will adapt because I know that these meds are a big part of my reintegration into society. No one wants an employee that has serious moods swings. They are never sure which one will show up, the manic or the depressed. One other thing happened, which if it pans out, will help me with other things that will help with the integration back into society. Out of the blue, someone from a service organization got a hold of the Tallahassee Democrat and got my email. This person emailed me and offered their organization's services to try and help with the process. I will be there Monday at 8am, as I promised this person that I would show up. The only thing I have is my word. As the pieces start to line up, others are starting to offer help. Some are realizing that this is an honest effort to get off the streets and give the readers of this blog an insight on the struggle back. This is not for sympathy or pity. It is just for education and information. I am hoping that as my readers watch the struggle and hopefully the success that they will be more willing to help others that are down and out. There are many that would love to get off the streets, but are lost in the quagmire of red tape and indifference. I am hoping that this blog will help change some of that. Have a good Sunday. This is another one of your post that I enjoyed reading. It's nice to follow your progress.
Regarding the psych meds: Its my understanding that doctors start they clients on a relatively high dose. As you stabalize you may be able to trim off the meds a little bit without losing the benefits. That can help with some of the side effects, one of them being drowsiness.
