I am just having a hard time balancing home school with babies, and trying to be done before my other children get home from school. I thought this would give me more time with them but it is literally taking up all of my time! I can't cook or clean or spend any quality time with my kids or my husband. I know it's gotta be that I just don't know how to do it yet. Are there some tricks to this?!!

" Take everything in small steps. Fold laundry while he is doing a worksheet. Wash the dishes or do some cleaning while he is on break. Save the big cleaning for the weekend and enlist everyone's help. "

" okay so I figured something out today.. Then I read your post and it validated what I had guessed. The main reason I think I feel so overwhelmed is because my son thinks he can't do anything without me sitting right there with him. You say breaks like we have any, and worksheets like he does them on his own!! He has a major confidence issue, so we worked on that today, and he did a whole lesson ON HIS OWN!!! I was so proud of him, and I did a load of dishes! I can't even tell you how happy that made me. Thank you to both of your replies and your hug today. It really helps to know that I am not alone in this. How long have you been home schooling? How old is your child? What kind of set up do you have with the type of curriculum you use? That's another thing is that I don't have a lot of flexibility with his because it's through the state. It's all free, but more than that it helps me know what I am supposed to be teaching him. I pictured it differently though. I look forward to keeping in touch :) "

" My son is 7 and I've been homeschooling him since the last part of the 2008/2009 school year. We sort of unschool because we can't afford to pay for the curriculums available. I have a second grade curriculum book I bought on the internet, plus I print lessons and worksheets from the internet. Basically I copied the required benchmarks for our state from the DOE website and teach whatever I can to meet them. I also have a teacher mentoring me for when I have questions. My son had the same confidence problem when we first started. He still needs me to sit with him more often than not. What I do is keep some small project for me to do as I sit with him; crafting or even a book to read. It is not so much that he needs my help, he just needs to know I'm there if he does. We have a small folding table and chair set up in an unused corner for lessons. It cuts down on distractions. "
