If there is anyone here that knows any of the laws spicifically NC laws, I have a question.
My step sons mother supposively was home schooling him last year for the 9th grade, she claims it was thru an online school, where he studies, takes test etc online, and she has to pay for it. Come to find out he only did part of it for about 4 mths and she never paid for there fore he didn't get to do the testing. So am I right to thnk he basicly wasn't in school at all last year? and isn't that illegal if the child is under 16? He is now 16, should this be reported? is it to late to report because he is already 16 now? Does she have to prove that he was home schooled? Thanks in advance Jodie Posted on 10/02/09, 09:10 pm |

these are the requirements for North Carolina home schoolers----

Certify that the persons providing the academic instruction hold at least a high school diploma or its equivalent . Maintain attendance records on each student. Maintain immunization records on each student. Operate on a regular schedule, excluding reasonable holidays and vacations, during at least nine calendar months of the year. Administer a nationally standardized test, or other equivalent measurement, that measures achievement in the areas of English grammar, reading, spelling, and math, to every student each year, and maintain the results on file for one year, subject to inspection by a duly authorized representative of the State.
