My brother who has been diagnosed with HL stage IIIB is currently undergoing ABVD and has finished his 1st cycle (one month) and due for the second one from tomorrow. I have gone through many articles on HL and its relapse even after treatment.
would like hear from u all about, what is the usual percentage of relapse and what is the usual treatment strategy after relapse?

" I know that HL has a rather high cure rate.

As far as treatment strategies go for after a relapse, I'm pretty sure the doctor tries different treatments in order to get a better effect..I'm not certain of that though.

But you shouldn't be concerned right now about a relapse, just cross that bridge IF it happens. Just make sure that he doesn't ignore any weird feelings, pains etc. once treatment is over. "

" Hello,
If it is any help, I had the same diagnosis and treatment when I turned 21 in 1996. It has been 13 year now, and I now have a beautiful wife and daughter, and couldn't be happier.

I had to endure about 5 years of CT scans after my final treatment, after which I was done. Only one exception came up with any of those scans, to which I responded aggressively with a second opinion (and a slew of homeopathic therapies, but that's another story).

My advice, if I could offer some, would be to provide him with as much laughter as possible. In my case the medication really affected my chemical balance to a point where I was clinically depressed, so any chance I could have to laugh was eagerly met.

Bald is beautiful :) "

" Hi there! I'm the wife of a survivor. My husband was diagnosed with HL, Stage IIIB, 10 years ago. Since, it has tried to come back, twice... well, three times. The first time was 6 years ago. The second, 4 years ago. It came back in the form of swollen lymphnodes. It's important that you listen to your body because, with early treatment, we caught in time and there were no treatments needed. The Oncologist told us that we were just in time. So pleeeeeease, if you feel "not normal" - get checked. I'm hoping for you that it won't come back EVER!! and that's possible! Unfortunately, we are going through it again, currently, and my husband lagged on telling me or going to the dr. He has a large mass on his tonsil and is having surgery tomorrow. We will know his diagnosis tomorrow, as well. Make a promise to yourself that you will be a strong advocate for yourself and take EVERYTHING seriously!! I will pray that you live a long, happy and healthy life!!! :) "
