starting chemo on wednesday, lots of questions.

well it is finally starting, i am getting my first round of chemotherapy on Wednesday for my hodgkins lymphoma and i want to know what i should expect, i want to know everything from how i might feel, to when i might lose my hair and when it will grow back. another big concern i have is if i will need surgery to remove the mass in my neck and abdomen or if they will just go away. anything anyone can tell me will be a great help. i am a 23 year old mother of 3 and i want to be here for my babies.

Surprised nobody has replied to you on here before now... First of all remember that everybody will react differently to Chemotherapy. I was very lucky and only had Three months of ABVD. I have got to say that it was nothing like I expected. It was very easy and I didn't really feel that bad throughout. I worked the whole time and didn't even lose all of my hair! First of all you will just feel a bit spaced out. It is very likely you will get nausia also. I think the bleomicin makes your mouth rather sore and you will probably get acid reflux which is similar to bad indigestion. I imagine that within a couple of days you will feel OK, maybe even fine. You will probably lose (some of) your sense of taste as a result. Again it really wasn't that bad for me). Stay positive if you can, call on all of your friends and family to help you through it. Staying positive is about the best advice I had. Come back on here and tell us how you get on. I hope it goes well for you. Regards, Richard.

It really all depends on your treatment map and how you respond, but im pretty sure they just shrink the mass initially with chemo, and then a bit more with radiation (which is more of a preventive thing). But it depends on what your doctor wants for you.
