Can someone help me. I read that with ABVD you will loose all your hair everywhere. Is this true. I have only had the 1st half of my 1st treatment two weeks ago and I am already shedding. Can someone tell me if this has happened. Am I really going to loose all of it. What are the %. I am trying to keep it all together inside but if my outside tells my story I feel I will crack. So now I am obbsessing on getting a wig right away. Am I going to fast, how long does it take? I have no control over the chemo so I am trying to control this.

" Everyones different as far as how much will fall out and when. For me i had a different chemo for the first 4 cycles so my head hair fell out first, then after a few months, my eyebrows and eyelashes started thinning, and eventually all came out. on my 5-8 cycles of abvd, my hair actually started to grow back, but that may be because my body was used to the chemo, im not sure. Regardless, im not sure of the weather where your at, but if its starting to get cold, a beanie is a great alternative to a wig.

when your hair all falls out differs with each individual though. :) "

" My daughter was diagnosed with stage 2 hodgkins feb 2008, she had ABVD and 4 rounds of treatment, she did loose some hair but never clumps and never needed the $400 WIG we bought her to be ready...in having said that, last month(aug 2009) she was coming to visit and was gravely ill, she had thyroid cancer surgery in june 2--9( this is common after the radiation for Hodgkins) then while here and hospitalized, they found a huge mass on her lung along with many more problems, her hodgkins is back with advengence, stage 4 now and shes in the middle of aggressive chemo in the hospital in Oakland, so please, when your finished your treatment, be very aware of any changes, if you have a cough, DON"T take it for granted that its a reaction to one of the chemicals of your abvd, like my daughter was told...NEVER put off any worries, remember, its your life and health, don't worry about little questions, they need to be addressed, now, she will need her wig as all her hair will for sure, come out. I will pray for you and hope you have an easy go,! "

" I took a preemptive strike and shaved my head when I noticed I was shedding. Then a lot of it grew back. About 1/3, I'd say. It was evenly distributed. I wore a human hair wig to work, then bandanas, then started sporting my short, wispy hair. When I first started ABVD, I thought that losing my hair was going to be the worst thing ever. Amazingly, you learn to deal with it. It's not fun, but it's not the end of the world. "
