Necessary to get second opinion?

Did everyone here get a second opinion? The doctor that diagnosed me as Stage3b and wants to start treatment Wednesday. I'm wondering if getting a second opinion and going with a different doctor will delay treatment too long.

Thoughts?

" Hi! I'm so sorry for your recent diagnosis.. I was diagnosed with HL 3b, five years ago and I did get a second opinion.. What are you going to lose? How do you feel about seeing a different doctor? I know through my experience, it's never too late to be seen a second time.. It's your body and it's gonna be a trying time for you. I learned no one is gonna have a voice for me, except myself.. I wish you all the best and please let me know how everything goes for you. "

" I think it's always important to get a second opinion so that you're fully comfortable with your course of treatment. "

" Just wanted to thank everyone for their input.

I ended up going to the second dr and switching to BEACOPP14 treatment, and had clean PET as of mid-Oct (Thank God!), just continuing with treatment til dec/jan.

Did any of u have radiation after clean PET? If so, what treatment did u use (AVBD, BEACOPP, Stanford 5).

Thanks! "

" There was little to no metabolic activity, on the pet scan before i started radiation, but there was still a dead mass.

What i got from it was that radiation was more of a preventative thing and it takes a little while to see the effects

But just as you got a second opinion with the chemo, I would consider getting another second opinion as to whether or not it is necessary to follow up with radiation (unless you pretty much have no doubts with your new doctor) because even though radiation has it's benifits, it also has possible long-term/short-term side effects.

Oh, and I had BEACOPP, followed by ABVD "

" According to the American Cancer Society: Sugar intake has not been shown to directly increase the risk of getting cancer or having it progress. But sugars (including honey, raw sugar, brown sugar, corn syrup, and molasses) and beverages that contain them (such as soft drinks and fruit-flavored beverages) add large amounts of calories to the diet and can cause weight gain, which can affect cancer outcomes. Most foods and beverages that are high in sugar do not add many nutrients to the diet and often replace more nutritious food choices. For this reason, limiting sugar intake is recommended. "
