I just went through 6 months of ABVD and everything went great and had no real side effects. I had a PT/CT scan 3 days ago and found out yesterday that my tumor has become resistant to the chemo and has started to grow again. They think I have Primary Refractory Lymphoma, or something like that. We want to get a second opinion and want to know about some good cancer centers. My dr. mentioned San Fran and Seattle, but we still want to know more.

" Hey there, so sorry to hear your tumor has become resistant. Why would they consider you refractory if you haven't even had a stem cell transplant yet? Usually "refractory" means that you've tried every treatment option out there, and your cancer still returns. I would get a second opinion ASAP. Have you had radiation? If you just finished ABVD only, you could still go on to have radiation as well. Here is another forum that is extremely helpful:

If I were you, I would go get another opinion on this as soon as you can!!!!!!!! "

" I get my treatment in San Francisco. It is probably one of the top in California. Whatever they decide to do I would recommend to agree to whatever heavy chemo/radiation they send you. I had hea "

anyway, I had radiation and bone marrow transplants. They ahve a lot of strong bad side effects but nothing too bad. whatever is more likely to work. "

" I received really amazing treatment at Dana Farber, but it sounds like that is sadly quite far from where you are. Still, it might be work flying in for another opinion. The treatment plan could be executed somewhere else. "

" Sorry for the late reply. Things have been a little crazy for me lately. I haven't had radiation but we went to the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and they agreed with the auto-stem cell transplant and high dose chemo. It seems like they want to keep radiation as a last resort. Oh yeah, thanks for that other forum. "

" Hey man. Here in San Francisco I already had an auto-bone marrow transplant and radiation afterwards. Message me if you have questions. It is not that bad and not painful. It is annoying that you will have to stay at the hospital for a while. "
