So I got this list of foods that I should consume with moderation or none at all. Its kinda driving me nuts. I look on food labels but dont see tyramine. Can anyone help me out with this one. How am I supposed to know whats ok? I know like alcohol, wine, the aged cheeses, tomatoes. . . something even said fresh fruits and vegetables. The Dr office printed something off of google and gave it to me but there wasnt a ton on there. Is it just to protect me from getting nausea and having vomitting? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

" im not really sure what it is that you've been told. from my knowledge about good health, and from my own experience, i know that really all you need to avoid are the obvious alcohol, smoking, no mouldy cheeses, none of those pro or pre biotic drinks, and that's really it....

you can eat fruit and veg, and in fact the more the better, especially oranges and spinach to keep ur iron levels up...

they usually say to avoid fresh fruit and veg if you're neutropenic... but if you have managed to avoid this then fresh fruit n veg is definitely nothing to avoid.

just make sure you wash everything well, and keep the prep area clean.

theres a lot of rubbish on the internet about things to avoid, but you will find that most of the real advice is common sense... if its healthy and clean then its ok....and if its mouldy or unhealthy , avoid it.

hope this helps xxx "

" Tyramine is produced from protein as it ages. So anything other than fresh protein should be avoided. I was told to avoid all cheeses apart from cottage cheese (I think), any processed meats (e.g. ham) or fish (e.g. pickled herring), tinned meat or fish, live yoghurts. I think dairy products as a whole needed to be treated with caution.

In addition, I found out the hard way that chocolate and baked beans also induced symptoms. These were not included on my list, nor did the dietician know to avoid them.

Assuming you are on a MAO, which is the usual reason to avoid tyramine, the main symptoms are heart palpitations, sleep problems, and headaches.

Hope this is helpful "
