I'm on 3 meds for my hives and i'm still getting them. doctor is referring me to a dermatologist, but haven't even got a call to say i have an appointment. called doc's office today, and receptionist said that the referral has been made, but dermatologist not booking until Jan. She suggested to look for a dermatologist that's closer, and then said she thinks there is one. She's looking into it. Meanwhile, I'm stuck with these hives and i have no idea how to make them better.
i get them every day. i don't know what to eliminate because there is so many possibilities. is it caffeine? is it gluten? is it soap? is it stress? is it my animals? is it my clothes? is it something in my house? What if it's a number of things and when i eliminate one thing at a time it doesn't get better because there's always something else? i'm tired. i'm exhausted and no one is doing anything to make me feel better. i can't keep up and i just want to go to bed. I'm not sure what meds you're on, but the only thing that helped me was 1st prednisone, followed with Allegra, Hydroxeze, and Rantidine.
Good luck!

Hi there! I don't usually join forums, but I felt I should share my experience with those who suffers from hives. I had hives daily for 4 months. At first, I thought it would go away on its own, but week after week, I broke out everyday. It was very painful and frustrating. I thought about going to the doctor, but after a lot of internet research and reading others experience, I knew the doctor would prescribe a medication for me that would only relieve the symptoms of hives. So instead, I decided to see a Chinese herbalist. They say that Chinese medicine stop the symptoms from the source. The doctor said it was more likely that I have an allergic reaction to something, but determining what it was was the difficult part. He prescribe 5 doses of Chinese medicine to drink daily. And yes, it tastes really gross, but amazingle, I no longer have any hives! From 4 months of daily break outs to none was amazing relief for me. Whether it will work for you or not, I can not say, but when you've tried everything possible with western medicine and have found no relief, this is worth a try. I don't know where you are located and if you are able to find a Chinese herbalist in your area, but if you can, please give it a try. You never know. It just might finally end your long painful ordeal of hives. Good luck!

I have been taking zyrtec (once a day) and zantac (twice a day). While it helped at the beginning, after a while I just started breaking out a lot.
I have started visiting a new allergists who believes the root cause is a massive sinus infection. He prescribed prednisone (5 days) and my skin became very clear within days. After I finished taking the medication, the hives came back. A month later, the doctor prescribed it again for 10 more days stating that i still had a sinus infection. Yesterday it was the last day and my skin is quite clear...we'll see. It is quite a powerful drug from what I have read. Do you have any history of allergies? According to some bloodwork I am allergic to almost everything in the environment. Hope this info helps.
