Crestor Death

During the human trials on Crestor, seven people experienced muscle breakdown. One of those seven people was a 39 year old American woman who was killed by Crestor while taking a 20 mg dosage.
This is why the FDA limited Crestor to 40mg, instead of 80mg like Lipitor. When we read a statistic of a death from someone we didn't know, we don't feel the emotions we would if we lost somebody close to us. But I just wanted to take the time to post this information because this was a real person just like you and me. Someone with family. Somebody with a future. Killed by Crestor. Think about it. Interesting. Crestor just got a spot on our evening news recently for saving lives. I'm sure the drug company managed to put it there, but still.....
It said that - Even people without high cholesterol can take Crestor, with few or no side effects, and improve their chances of avoiding heart attack, stroke, DVT, hardening of the arteries, etc. I guess unless you see the actual history of the person who died - what their genetic tendencies were, why the drug was so hard on them, etc., you can't really know why the drug reacted with her in that way. I've been on a 20 mg dose of Crestor for nearly 2 years now, with nothing but tinnitus as a side effect.

Jan, you are 100% correct about the drug company putting the news spot up claiming Crestor saves lives.
Crestor, along with other statin drugs have been dealt a hard blow in recent trials which demonstated the drugs did nothing to save lives. The media began picking up on these trials, and public opinion on the drugs started deteriorating. The report you saw on the news was an attempt to counter and retain market share by reporting a trial that demonstrated amazing results of crestor's ability to save lives. Its important to follow the money trail in a study, and in this case the money trail goes right back to the people selling the drug. Its good that you have not suffered any side effects from statins. Count yourself very lucky. Some people fall sick the first week. Some people can take the drug for 20 years with no side effects. Then suddenly one day they can't walk anymore. The risk will always be present. Remember, half of all heart attacks happen with low to normal cholesterol levels. If a person has high cholesterol and then lowers it to low or normal levels, we shift from one 50% group that has heart attacks, to the other 50% group that has just as many heart attacks. Where is the benefit in that? Something to think about at least. Take care

hi all, and thank you for updates on Crestor. Medlab has really helped all of us understand the benefits if any of taking these cholesterol lowering drugs, if any. Recently, I started Crestor, actually to appease my endocronologist and GP. I guess the old saying, of you can't feel anyone else's pain is true. I say this because while I was on Lipitor I was totally disabled, in pain, especially my feet, which I'd never had before. That was about 3 years ago that I stopped. Last week after being on Crestor, I had terrible lower back problems and sciatica. I don't contribute these problems to Crestor but went off of it solely to just concentrate on one problem and not add another. What a pain this is... and I mean the pain of doctors prescribing and not really researching or listening, or both. grrrr *s*. Hugs to all!
