I just started taking the ayurvedic supplement guggul, which is supposed to be very good for lowering cholesterol and triglycerides.

Has anyone tried this? Has it worked for you?

" Hi, I just joined the group.

Yes I've tried it and still use it.

My compounding pharmacist recommended Guggul when I told her about my experience with Lipitor. (I met with her about my CFS and BHRT. Please Google if you don't know what those are.)

It was working for me, more slowly than Rx's, but it worked.

Until menopause hit, and my bottle expired, and I didn't sleep, and didn't get around to having my comp pharm order more for me.

The one I tried is Ayur-Guggulipid by Douglas Labs. "

" CAN you let me know how much the guggul lowered your cholesterol? Thanks so much - I recently had to stop my crestor, welchol and zetia use as I got the leg cramp/pain side effect - I am now just taking Lecithin and Fish Oil. "

" Please let me know how this is working. I am now just taking fish oil and lecithin due to having had severe muscle problems from other meds. When all of my pain from the other meds is gone I am thinking of trying guggul, then adding some red yeast rice. Thanks. "

" I'm not due for bloodwork until July, so I can't tell you yet if it's working or not.

I will though! "

" @ellen #3

Be careful of the red yeast rice, I have trouble with digestive yeast imbalance and I'm having to take probiotics again to keep after it. "
