Trying to lower Cholesterol naturally

I am only 24 and I have been diagnosed with High Cholesterol. I do not want to start taking any medication for this issue quite yet. I have not seen the specialist yet, but we all know that doctors like to put patients on medications. I am going to work on eatting better and exercising more often. Does anyone know of any sort of natural remedy for high cholesterol? I am going to start taking some omega-3 supplements, but just hoping there are other things that could help with this.

Oh, I am new to this site so any suggestions are welcomed :)

" In the UK, we can buy drinks, yogurts and margarines with added plant sterols. You can also buy plant sterols as a food supplement. They can help reduce your cholesterol and have been used in Scandanavian countries for years. "

" Try "Red Yeast Rice" it was recommended by my doctor. It comes in capsule form and you can get it just about anywhere, I get mine from Walgreens. "

" Yes, I have heard of Red Yeast Rice too although it is not promoted so much over here. Forgot to mention a supplement I am going to try when my present stock of plant sterols is finished - it is called Sytrinol. Here is a webpage to find out more - http://www.nutritionreview.org/lib... "
