Hi. My name is Claudia. Im 14 years old and Ive had hypertension for a few years now. A few months ago, my doctor decided to start medicating me with beta-blockers. The cause for my hypertension is unknown.Well, I do have a family history. I quickly developed this summer left vnetricular hypertrophy. (increase of 3cm in a period of 6 months). I also have mild mitral valve regurgitation- but without Mitral valve prolapse. I've had cardaic arrhythmias since 11 years of age and have increased. I just wanted to know that was it my dr.s error not to prescibe me the meds earlier so the left ventricular hypertrophy wouldnt have happened? Does anyone have anything similar to my story? Some advice? Thanx.

" I'm sorry I don't have answers for you but my daughter just found out that she has an enlarged left ventrical and bilateral renal artery stenosis due to high blood pressure. She had chest pains, shortness of breath , headaches, and felt dizzy. Her blood pressure was 166/110 when I took her to the hospital. She is 16. She goes to a kidney specialist tomorrow and will get better info then. They have her on 2 blood pressure meds for now. At first they couldn't find a reason for the high BP and pains so they thought it was panic attacks. "

" Thank you, and yes I will keep you informed. I think the hardest part was when they started sending in the phychiatrists. Samantha is a well adjusted girl who gets along with everyone and is very out going. When they started to act like it was all panic disorders ( I know those can be very bad ) she got upset. She would have a resting blood pressure average of 150 over 95 but her pulse would always stay under 75. At least now that they know what is wrong we can find out what to expect. Today she said her eyes keep bouncing around, hopefully that is something to do with the meds. Her BP as of an hour ago was only 126 over 85.
Thank goodness we go to the nephrologist tomorrow. "

" I am 23 and I have had problems with my blood pressure and tachycardia and now they're looking into left ventricular hypertrophy. When I lay down and I'm at rest, my blood pressure is as low as 85/43 but sometimes when I stand up, my blood pressure goes to 170s/105 and my heart rate can go up to 150bpm. But due to my low resting blood pressure, they can't give me any medications. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? "
