I have a muzzy head, slight headache, feel very tired. I also have ringing in my ears. Would this be the cause of high blood pressure as just been told I have blood pressure of 160/92? I have had breast cancer and before I was told about the high blood pressure I have been worrying that the symptoms could be down to something more sinister.

If you could tell me aboue your blood pressure experiences and symptoms then it would be a great help. Thank you.

" I am new here but I can tell you my bp is around those numbers most of the time. When it gets higher, I get a "weird headache" which is a nagging ache right between the eyes. Also my eyes themselves feel tired and heavy and they become bloodshot. Outside of that it really is silent with me. "

" Hi,

When my pressure is high, my symptoms are foggy head, headache and pressure in my ears. Are you on medication for your HBP? Let your doctor know about these symptoms it's probably the HBP. Don't worry everything will be fine. Wishing you the best. "

" i wake up in the mornings muzzy headed, lightheaded/dizzy and i feel like my ears are blocked, this is usually at times of alot of stress and i think my bp is up because of the stress, when i take the bp meds most of the diziness subsides until night time until i take one of my 4 meds for high bp, i was slightly stressed when i had bp taken a couple of week before and it was 160/90 then and wasnt getting dizziness or anything then, "

" When I first discovered I had high bp I felt funny in the head. It was like being slightly buzzed: slight dizzy and foggy head. This was consistent for about 1wk until I ended up in the er with 170/125. It's been about 3yrs. and I'm on my fifth medication and I usually know when the bp is up because I get the dizzy feeling only now it usually comes with a bit of panic b/c it's gone up to 180/130 and I'm terrified of having a stroke. BTW I am a 37yr old female. "

" Thank you for your replies. I am still suffering with headaches and dizzy spells. I have been on bp tablets for 3 weeks now but my bp is up and down like a yo yo. Does it sometimes take a while for the meds to work and can some tablets not work for some people?

Thank you. "

" I would think it should be working by now, but Im not an expert. Sometimes it takes a while to get the right bp meds or a combination of them to see a result. When do you go back to the docter? My blood pressure is usually normal unles Im under stress and then it goes really high. frustrating isn't it. "

" My bp is still up and down all the time. I am feeling very unwell still and have ringing in my ears and headaches. Is this normal? BP can sometimes be 172/92. Should I be feeling unwell all the time?

Thanks. "

" I would think alot of those symptoms could be attributed to anxiety.

From what I've read in literature, high blood pressure is not really a "disease" that you would have symptoms from. Everyone's blood pressure is "normal" for them in each of life's situations. Like everyone's temperature is a little bit different. But the medical experts have decided what everyone's bp SHOULD be to prevent future cardiovascular incidents - and so we take medicine to reach what they consider "normal".

Now if you're normally 120/80 and you get sick with a high fever and your bp goes up to 180/120 - that would be "normal" for you when you're sick. I would be very hesitant to start taking bp meds because that one time my bp was 180/120.

But if for whatever reason your body sets 180/120 as your new normal - and you are consistently at 180/120 day after day - then that would be reason to start taking bp meds.

So for me, if I spike to 180/120 - which I only do when I'm really anxious - then I know it's my anxiety, and I take an Ativan. And then it comes down. It's not going to hurt you to have occasional spikes - people who work out every day spend at least 30 minutes on cardio exercises to get their hearts pumping - and of course, their bp is elevated during those times. I used to work in an aerobics clinic, and people would run on the treadmill attached to a heart monitor - it would not be uncommon for their blood pressure to reach 180. In fact, the point was to get it that high, otherwise they were not exerting themselves enough.

I just look at my anxiety as my version of a cardio workout! And when I do look at it that way, the bp spikes happen so much less often.

Just trying to get the point across that worrying about bp spikes often causes them. And I should know, I've had plenty! "
