" Michelle- with me, if I am anxious (I am scared to death of BP monitors) my BP skyrockets....I did the same thing, stopped taking it at home...I was obsessing over those numbers and worked myself up so much it always read high....I know when it's high and when it is normal....when you can feel it like that, it is usually your anxiety that is the problem, not so much the BP....you should really focus on getting your anxiety under control...that could help you alot....I know, easier said than done.....I am still a work in progress with this myself...it's sad when you goto the DR and your BP is 140/90 and I got SO EXCITED...lowest reading at the DR in 3 years....still not low, but when i had a full blown anxiety attack at the DR office, my BP was 200/120...Now, that concerned the DR, but just wanted to show you how much your anxiety can affect you BP....hope you can be strong and get through this... " I HAVE A PANIC DISORDER, I WAS DIAGNOSED IN 2007 AFTER A YEAR IN AND OUT THE ER. MY BLOOD PRESSURE IS ALWAYS A CONCERN IT HAS GONE AS HIGH AS 250/145 IN A FULL GONE PANIC ATTACK.
I HAVE CONTROLLED IT WITH MEDS AND MEDITATION, I HAVE FOUND A WAY TO GET MY MIND AT PEACE, IT IS IN MEDITATION AS I SAID AND PRAYER.
IT IS GOOD TO KNOW IF YOUR MONITOR READS RIGHT OR CLOSE TO THE DR, BEST WAY IS BRING IT WITH YOU TO YOUR VISIT AND ASK THE NURSE TO SEE IF IT READS THE SAME AS HERS. IT MAY BE OFF IN POINTS BUT GET A IDEA OF ABOUT HOW MANY POINTS.
I HAVE BEEN THERE AND DID THAT WITH BEING SCARED OF THE MINITOR, BUT YOU REALLY NEED THAT AT HOME, DONT THROW IT AWAY.
MY BLOOD PRESSURE VARIES, IT STAYS HIGH AT TIMES BUT LATELY WHEN I GO TO THE DR ITS LIKE 145 /100 BUT THIS LAST TIME I SAW MY THERAPIST IT WAS 200/120, SHE REALLY UPSET ME AND I DIDNT EVEN FEEL IT AS HIGH.
BUT THE NURSE TOLD ME TO RELAX MY TONGUE FOR A FEW MINUTES AND YOU KNOW THAT WORKED EXTREMELY WELL, MY BLOOD PRESSURE CAME DOWN AGAIN.
YOU CAN HAVE SODA, CAFFEINE FREE AND SUGAR FREE.
I DONT BLAME YOU FOR THE CONCERNS ON YOUR MEDS, BUT I TAKE 7 PILLS IN THE AM AND 3 AT NIGHT, I HAVE DIABETES, PCOS, HYPERTENTION AND PANIC DISORDER, YOU HAVE TO TAKE MEDS IF YOU NEED THEM , JUST PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR SYMPTOMS.
TALK TO ME IF YOU NEED TO, I HAVE BEEN THROUGH ALOT WITH ALL OF THIS, I CAN TRY TO HELP YOU GET THROUGH. "

" I wouldn't exactly suggest someone with high BP to drink sodas - they contain a lot of sodium. If you have to drink soda, then I would suggest Dt. Rite, it has zero sodium. The caffeine will also raise your BP as well.

One thing I have to ask the OP is, are you exercising? this should help to stabilize you a bit emotionally, once you get body moving. "
