Altace and Labetalol

Has anyone had to discontinue using Altace and Labetalol and switch to something else? I have been using these drugs for about 9 years and they have controlled my BP very well.
Now my Asthma Doctor wants me to switch to something else. He thinks that these drugs may trigger some of my coughing which causes my asthma to act up.
I'm seeing my PCP tomorrow to discuss this. Personally I'm a little hesitant to give them up because they have worked so well.
Has anyone switched to something else that doesn't cause coughing and is effective?

" I have taken labetalol and altace (3 labetalol and 1 altace)for two years now. It has really done a good job of controlling my high BP. I experience some fatique at times...and I have a dry cough at night in bed, once in awhile. I heard altace has a side effect of a cough.I can see if you have asthma, that might cause you a problem. They are good meds, hope you can stay on them. There are alot of effective meds for HBP, I am sure your DR will find something just as effective/without the cough. Good luck to you. "
