I need support I went to my ENT yesterday for a sinus issue and she checked my blood pressure and it was 158/102 so they were like that is very high let me take it again so that made me nervous and it spiked up too 184/106 and thats when they told me to contact my PCP right away and then I got really nervous.I went to my primary care physican and it had went down to 130/90 which made feel a little better. On several occasions my BP has been really high so the doctor put me on blood pressure meds (Azor). I just had a son back in June of 08 and I gained 100 pounds from being pregnant. I was only 168 before I got pregnant. Its scary because I am only 24 years old and I feel I am too young to have high blood pressure. Just here for support

" Hi. You will be fine. You have some white coat syndrome going on. Sometimes we get anxoius at the docs and out bp spikes. However, if you gained 100 lbs, you may have high bp as a result from that too. Calm down for now. Realize you are yound and you need to change your lifesytle (diet & exercise) to get back on track. You can do it! I was the same way at one point too. "

" I agree with jerseymike, relax and start making some life changes. Just losing weight will lower your blood pressure. "

" Hi Blessed!

I know how you feel. Im 24 and im on 10mg of Ramipril daily for my blood pressure which is quite a lot for me being so young (my mother is 60 and we are on the same!). Ive been receiving medication since i was 14 and its only now that Im begining to understand the importance of my health. I too have a young child and I know that it is stressful enough having to worry about them as well as your own health!

But JerseyMike is absolutely right. High Blood Pressure can be controlled by medication but you can make sure that you have control over it too by excercising plenty and taking the extra time to concentrate on your diet.

I find walking is brilliant for exercise as it can be at any pace and is very relaxing, its also excellent for your heart.

As for diet, Ive had to cut out caffeine, salt and cut down on starchy foods, eg, potatoes.

At 24 it is a scary thing to be worrying about, but just remember you are not the only one so young to have HBP, there are plenty of us out there!!!

All the best xxx "

" Hello,
My sentiments are the same as the others. I was diagnosed with HBP at 21 and I felt the same way. Just continue to eat right, exercise, keep stress at bay and take your meds if you've been prescribed them. You will be fine! "

" i agree with jersemike..that white coat gets you everytime..im the same way but ive had bp since 19..im 46..my youngest daughters the same way..im on 3 meds for it..she 24 and on 2 meds..i was in the waiting room with my own montier and checked it..140/80 p70..i went in the room it was 170/100 p80..so i checked it with mine in the same room with the nurse in there..mine read 166/98..so my monitor works good..if you have bp problems or you suspect that you might have..get ur own montier or borrow one..and sit down fet flat on the floor no smoking 20 min prior to taking it no moving or eating or talking..best to do it when ur alone..take ur blood p 1 time..then wait 5 min..then take it again do these 2 on ur left arm..the 3rd time taker on ur right arm..then take the 3 and show ur doc..or ur local pharmacist..but if you use one of those machines in there places take 3 times..they work well.but the only way ur going to get a good BASE IS IN UR OWN HOME..CUZ EVEN THOUGH UR NOT NERVOUES DEEP INSIDE UR BODY YOU WILL BE..THIS IS SOMETHING YOU CANT CONTROL..IF UR BLOOD PO GOES OVER,,LETS SAY UR 24 YRS OLD 130/85 OR CLOSE TO THAT ABOVE OR BELOW..THEN i wouldnt get on meds..until you reach a reading of 150/95 then you might want to talk with ur doc..im not telling you what to do its my own experience..i take mine 5 -8 times aday..i been known to have mine very high and be feeling great 180/110 p66..then other times having anxietys and feeling not good at all..and it be 130/80 p66..good luck my friend..james "
