I am 30, I have high blood pressure and I can't take beta blockers due to severe increase in depression. So if I take Verapamil (sp), will I gain weight? I'm the type of person that gets depressed and/or gains weight if there is that side effect. I will not risk it, noooo way.
Thanks! Elizabeth Posted on 01/22/09, 05:01 am |

Probably not if you eat right and maintain a decent level of excercise. I heard the same about topral xl (which i startedd taking a few weeks ago). i have not gained any weight. everyone is different though. hang in there and stay positive. good luck!

I don't really eat right nor maintain any level of exercise. I hate them both, despise..rrrr. I know that's pretty bad. I just have near zero willpower for most things.
I started the medicine 2 days ago, so I'll just see how it goes! Are you able to keep your blood pressure under control? Are your kidneys effected by your b.p. at all? Elizabeth

Unfortunately I have the world's worst memory and so far I haven't gotten the hang out blood pressure numbers yet. They don't mean much to me. Let me try to think...
I'm going to give it a guess here... Ranging from 130 to 160 top number and between 90 and 105 for the bottom number. I hope that I'm even accurate when telling you bc I really forget. Plus my heart rate is high, resting its around 110...and I'm 31 and have a little leak in my heart valve that makes them want to drop the pressure on it.
