I have had blood pressure problems for several years and it seems to get worse. I am currently on 3 meds for it and it finally is working . Why would one not work verses taking three now. I am 39 yrs old and I also have bad fatigue along with fluid retention throughout my whole body causing weight gain. Anyone else experiencing this?

Hi,
There are different meds on the market that work in conjunction with the next. There are beta blockers (to slow heart rate), calcium channel blockers (keeps your arteries open), diuretics (water retention, potassium sparers) and the list goes on. These meds all work together to help keep the blood pressure normal. So docs may prescribe more than one if necessary. As for your fatigue your body is adjusting to the meds so that will happen. Speak to your doctor about that and the fluid retention, maybe your med dosages need to be adjusted or you may need to prescribed something different. I hope this helps!

Lisinopril helped bring be down from 10 points from 145 - 150/90,
but after a couple of years it went back up. 25 mg Atenolol just dropped my pressure down to 105/65. It was a bit fast for me, so now I'm trying a half dose. It may make fatigue worse. I have to walk slower, my pulse just does not go up very much. being here to complain about fatigue is better than blowing a gasket.
