Don't try corn starch

My son got some very bad advice from a surgeon 3 weeks ago. His HS had been getting almost manageable. Then he saw a different surgeon at his clinic. He told him to try putting cornstarch on his open areas to help keep them dry. It didn't work at all, and for the past few days he could barely walk again. Today he went back and saw a different surgeon (he has appointments every 2-3 weeks with whichever surgeon is in clinic that day). Instead of still getting better, he needs surgury...again... in 2 days to clean things up. Don't try cornstarch to keep things dry, it doesn't work and could make things much worse.

" I also saw someone advise using POWDER to help with the smell!!! WTF?! That CLOGS the pores and WILL make HS much worse! Thanks for sharing your warning, there are far too many doctors out there misdiagnosing, misleading and misinforming us on treatment.. I am so glad we can all stick together and share our trials and tribulations with each other so we can learn from each others mistake (the Doctors mistakes actually!)
Hope he feels better soon! "

" Thanks. Surgery went well today. He's resting in the hospital and will be home tomorrow or Saturday. "

" Hope he feels better. I have always used Cornstarch on my "un wounded" skin. But not on open wounds. To keep dry. "
