Hello everyone, I will have my second appointment on the 21st. i am seriously considering a bilat mastectomy in order to control the progression of this disease. My father and my brother have it and I go the worst of it. I suppose it was the female factor. Has anyone else had a mastectomy for HS?

" I have never heard of anyone doing that. Are you sure that is really what you want to do? Have you tried turmeric and zinc? "

" I too considered the Bilat Masectomy, but upon firther research and in talking with my surgeon I discovered that even the masectomy could NOT cure my HS..the chance of it returning to the SAME area was great and the skin grafting and pain I would have had to go through would not have been worth it if it came back! Please talk to your doctor about this and do more research on it, I was IN the hospital prepped for surgery when the doctor and I had this discussion and we BOTH agreed that it was a bad idea for ME because it would not improve my HS long term. I have 42 DD breast that are scarred and rampant with "cysts" that are extremely painful, I was gladly going to give them up for some relief, but the guarantee of relief was not there...it was just a HOPE that it would relieve the pain and that they would not come back. Check into it more, please! "

" I have tried the zinc without relief. I hadn't heard of the tumeric until a couple of days ago. I am going to start that. Hopefully it will offer some relief "

" Rebecca-I am going to discuss this further with the MD on Monday. I too am 42DD. She did tell me the last time that I was looking at a lifetime of surgeries for relief and never a cure. She does feel that the mastectomy will offer some relief from the heat, weight and the friction and perhaps this will slow it down. "
