Hi, I believe there is a link between the two for me anyway. After looking into the symptoms and things like that.After seeing the core of my boils I become convinced it yeast. Because of the core's texture, color, and smell. I know some will argue with that but its just my personal theory.I know theres a scientific explanation for what the core consists of but you never know. I started the candida diet in November and have not had an outbreak since then. Basically I removed all sugar, bread, white flour products like pasta, alcohol, and spicy foods. On certain phases of the diet you can introduce foods back into your diet but I have been afraid to do so out of fear of the food causing a new outbreak. Also started taking a teaspoon of cream of tartar every morning in a glass of water. The cream of tartar supposedly stops the candida from growing. But it makes a world of difference with me. Sorry its so long.

I never thought about the core in relation to yeast but have wondered what the ooze is since I know its not a typical infection. Your insight is very interesting.

I have noticed that if yeast is the underlying issue, it would certainly explain why my HS started after several years of birth control pills and why no antibiotic has ever helped and why my impression has always been that my HS flares up shortly after an antibiotic usage. I have learned bcp's and antibiotics lead to yeast overgrowth. Also, yeast is heavily taxing on the liver which means it can't fully digest/detox itself naturally which manifests in a variety of ways including boils and acne. Also, the only time I have ever been in remission was following about 6 months of mostly gluten free, raw foods diet with no diary or red meat. I may have controlled the candida and not realized it.

I am drinking organic coconut oil, raw garlic and a quick candida cleanse supplement and believe I have what is referred to as mass die off where I feel kinda like I have the flu and I think its indicative that the combo is tackling the yeast. I am also trying to go back to gluten free, sugar free etc but am very much a work in progress on the self discipline part. lol

Congrats on not having a breakout in awhile. I am not there yet but am hoping to see real improvement shortly. Thanks for sharing as it helps motivate me to keep on doing what I am doing.

I think for me there is a connection also! I take a AZO yeast pill every other day and I just recently did a 3 night otc yeast infection med and it seem to help a lot even tho I didnt have the typical symptoms of a yeast infection in the vagina it helped the outer swelling. then i started my emuaid and it has helped tremdously also. i may try the diet sweetie11 mention....cant hurt ya know

It definitely takes a lot of discipline to follow the diet but me not being in pain is what keeps me on track. The first few weeks are always tough. I read on a website that the yeast and other bacteria cause you to crave sugar and bread because that's what it needs to thrive. That makes sense to me.Your food choices are very limited but its so worth it. You can do it though. I also use to take those AZO yeast pills but I think my body became immune to them. So I started taking the probiotic acidophilus. If you guys to try Good luck and let me know how it goes.

i get frequent candida infections and once had to take a medication for bacterial overgrowth in my intestines.

Anecdotally, no relation for me. I've never had a yeast infection, and I only got thrush in my mouth once (because of a medicine I was taking). Perhaps all the yeast in my body runs straight for the abscesses! Removing sugar, white bread, and white flour is a good idea in general though. That stuff is no good for you. I hate white bread, and eat mostly whole wheat products, but sugar... hard to give up the occasional sweet.

Candida and HS are completely different issues, but they are commonly confused because some similar diet changes affect both Candida and HS.

I am interested in knowing if the candida cell supressors have had any effect other than the one reply listed below. I really think there is a candida connection but have been searching for any annecdotal eveidence that they work. Thanks!

I was told by the Navy, and VA doctors I had Candida. Then year later I was correctly diagnosed with HS disease. I can easily having both. They're separate critters, but still a skin issue. I have been in terrible pain for months now. Pain killers are not doing very well. God bless ALL of us in this mystery called HS Disease.

Overproduction of candida and bad HS breakouts always went hand in hand for me. It wasn't until I started changing my diet to figure out what foods triggered this that I actually got both under control. Since vinegar is a great candida killer, I diluted it in water and drank it when things got bad. I also use it in my hair for dandruff. I would really recommend looking at what you're eating and considering the candida diet. Worked for me.

What a great post. My young daughter developed HS at age 11. It has been 2 years and a long journey but we need have it almost in remission. and YES it is related to candida overgrowth in the GUT. Countless western med Drs., antibiotics, gluten intolerant, etc. She has not eaten gluten in the past 2 years - which helped but not totally gone. Well now we are rebalancing her gut via supplements etc. She has eaten gluten with no new boils, hives or stomach issues. Her old areas are almost all gone. TOtally due to gut imbalance. I am happy to share if anyone is interested. As i said, it has been a long road and i was afraid she had a disfiguring disease in her groin for life......

I completely see a correlation, my chest first started out at a candida outbreak then if I messed with them or tried to pop them, it would develop further as an HS outbreak. My chest is now at stage 3 and I'm considering surgery very soon.
