sweetie...it sounds like it could be...having an endoscopy is good...it will tell if there is one there...how big..they will do biopsy on the esophagus to see if any damage or problems...go have that test done....ask your drs office to call you the following day and let you every thing that was going on...some times after the test we are droggy and dont remember stuff....see if you can get a copy of the report...either from the dr or the hospital records dept...
having the endoscopy will be a big part to determine what is up...if it is a hiatal hernia...found out the size and what type and where located.. I just had surgery...mine hernia was bigger than a golf ball...was in the diaphram and I was at risk to have it strangulated...so I had to have surgery..in fact my surgery was the open surgery I spent 4 days in the hospital...it is very important to listen to your dr...if he wants surgery get other opinions first....keep me posted....Deb

Hi, NYyankeedeb is right. In fact her and I have become friends on this site due to the fact that we were both diagnosied with Hiatal Hernias. She was soooooo much support. She had her sugery before me ( i just had mine 6 days ago). I had mine done Laprascopically so, only one day in hospital with 4 very small incisions. I suffered with some of the same symptoms as you for literally yrs before that did an upper GI and the hernia showed up. It was a sliding hialtal hernia, bothered me with eating and activity. I literally lived on Tums..not good. I would imagine that the endoscopy and Upper GI would be a good idea to diagnose your problem. They can look at esophagus and stomach. Just don't let it go as long as I did..you miss out on so much from being so miserable. NYyankeedeb helped me through my anxities of surgery (and I am an RN..hehe). You have our support!!!!!! HUGS TO YOU !
