" Have you been to detox & rehab? If not, that's what you need to do NOW! There are free ones in every state...you need to call them and get your name on the list. If you have been to rehab, then you need a 12 step program...go & get a sponser. You can't do this by "will power" or alone. YOu NEED help! The sooner you make the decision to get sober...the sooner you will be done with all of this. PLEASE get some help now. "

" You sound like maybe you are ready to stop. Try to get yourself into a long term program if it is possible. My son has been through several rehabs and finally after getting arrested and put in jail he is finally getting his life together. He is in a court ordered long term rehab which is very strict but he likes it there. He could not trust himself not to use but he has been clean for 110 days now. You know this only going to end by you getting arrested or overdosing. There is not good outcome so please it can and will get better, get yourself help. "

" Ok - you aren't going to like what I am going to say - when you are really truly sick and tired of being sick and tired, hit that bottom, that's when you are going to get help. If you have been through detox/rehab a few times, and it wasn't because you wanted it, you did it for family, court or whatever the reason is - it won't work - you have to want it and you are doing it for you - Right now I feel that you are dope sick, attempting to go through withdrawal - cold turkey - the percentage of doing it that way is something like 1% or 5% of addicts that are actually able to do it and stay clean. If you truly want help then get your butt into detox and get help. If you don't have insurance I have seen many times on DS that the Salvation Army has an excellent rehab program and the best part is it's free. I know I sound harsh and cold hearted but I have been on both sides of the fence, I am a recovering alcoholic/addict for 22 years now, and my 24 year old son is a recovering heroin addict for 2 years now - and he did it for him. Let us know how you are doing "

" You sound like this time you would be doing it for you! That's huge, because only when you want to do it for yourself, can you. I agree with everyone, get in a rehab/detox program. Support is crucial during this time. You can do it, you just have to want to! "

" You sound just like me. I have been using heroin now for over two years and its no damn joke. I've tried 12 step and inpatient. Turned out just to make me healthy enough to use again. I would suggest seeing a Suboxone doctor to help you with withdrawals. Also, even though ibogaine hydrochloride is C1 only here in the states (curse big-pharma!) this is THE most successful treatment for heroin addiction known to man. Look around for an ibogaine clinic if Suboxone treatment does not work. I know God sure as heck is not keeping me clean, its the semi-synthetic buprenorphine and nalaxone. Chemistry holds the answers. "

" I feel for you. You have to want it, and you need something to help with the physica part. I am 3 days clean and on Suboxone. Rehab is not an option for me- I have to do this by myself. I have 2 kids that I support alone, a very high powered job, and a $100 a day dope habit. NO ONE would ever suspect I have a problem. I've tried to quit a hundred times before, but I really want this to be it. The subs help but I still feel weird and have incessant cravings. What I've done to myself is hell. But it's my mess and I have to clean it up. I'm sick of being sick, sick of being broke, sick of lying to everyone. I may not have hit the proverbial bottom, but hopefully I've hit my own equivalent. Best of luck, you are not alone. "

" Sparkle... Congrats on three days. I personally do not count days but rather make it the focus of everyday to stay clean. It doesn't matter how many days clean you got, its the one day that you use again that sends you back to the pit. The subs will help. I know that it does feel strange for about two weeks but then you will start to normalize. Do not lost hope in the medicine. It does work. "
