We were pretty much chemical dumpsites..LOL
I now make designs for t-shirts and stuff and laugh at these things but wow it was not a laughing matter. I believe there is medication that is not addicting out there, but just like cancer its a money maker. There was a program on TV called "Sober House" for stars, Rodney King was on it, he is pretty much brain dead and going to open his own sober house...Yikes. But the show was a joke. This rich doctor ran it, with some counslors that were barely over a year clean and sober. They let them run amuck, go to nightclubs have parties never talked about working a program, just went and talked to this doctor who I probably spilled more than he ever drank once a week. They let people back in after relapse all for money and big money. We use to call these places the 30,000 dollar Big Books. Now they run up to over 100,000 a month. That is why I love addicts. I can relate to them as we are relating and even if we do not totally agree we have a lot to be grateful for in common. Life is not easy out there chasing our drug of choice, so for me when I could get it from a doctor it was narvana, even better than the Methadone clinics that I could manipulate or I thought I was, when in fact they knew I was using and threatened to kick me out but never did. I am pretty sure it was the methadone that has caused some of my problems. I was actually pretty young when I got on it, and used it more than street drugs. Plus I have done a lot of research on the side affects. It sure did not help my already bad liver that is for sure. Its all crap as far as I am concerned and maybe, if, could be does not matter really. I would not take the chance if I knew what I do now. 30 day detox's do not exist other than if the clinic needs you out of there and or the money stops. If anything at all I would go for a 6 month gradual increase to block then down and a lot of support and emphasis on meetings, sponsors, counseling etc. But they are so convincing. They told me that I was a lifer. No way other than to stay on Methadone for the rest of my life. And they got me up there pretty fast, not 59 days as someone here wrote...my god that seems wrong to me. But I was also a lot younger. In fact once I jumped off 40 mgs without anything and it was not as bad as 12 years later getting off a few mgs. I guess I was a saturated Methadone patient.. had to be after all the years. If someone can get off all drugs eventually God bless them however they can do it, but again money dictates the treatment and its usually a long one.
