" I think your fiancee needs to go to a Detox to stop using. And then a rehab facility. He needs to find a place that will accept him. "

" its very hard to detox and go into recovery without help. He needs to want to be clean or it will not work. Usually the addict has to hit bottom. And that usually happens when the people that love and care for him stop enabling him. There is nothing you can say except that you love him, and that you will help him get into a program. Beyond that, its up to him. "

" i completely agree with ninaloy, addicts almost never quit cold turkey, and gotta say that rehab success rate is not much better its about 3%.I did it on my own with the help of suboxone which i dont recommend either its just prolonging the detox process. What doctors dont tell you is that is is 4 times as powerful as morphine and people should only be on it a month, well ive now been on it 3 years and still have to detox.I dont know if he is able to go away somewhere and what your finances look like but there is a clinic in Minneapolis called the Health Recovery Center. Joan Mathews Larson is the women who runs it. She addresses the underlying issues, which is all about biochemistry with nutrition and heavy vitamin regime. She detoxes people with intravenous vit C.Look her up she has written books about it. Bottom line is that junkies brains are broken and she fixes that with about a 97% success rate, basically unheard of.My boyfriend went there who is basically your worst case scenerio user and has not used since he is successful and owns his own business. Ultimately he has to want it or nothing will work. Make sure he gets this help BEFORE your dad gives him the business or im afraid you will find yourself in a situation you dont want to be in. I wish you the best "
